How to use this tool
Add an image
Start with a JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC/HEIF, AVIF or self-contained SVG file up to 20 MB. Your image is processed locally on your device.
Set your quality
Choose JPG or WebP and adjust the quality slider. Lower values often produce smaller files with more visible detail loss.
Compare and download
Compare the original and output file sizes. If the result is larger, try a lower quality or another format before saving.
Smaller files, with a little balance
Compression trades some image detail for a smaller file. Start around 80% quality and inspect the result at the size where you will use it. Photos usually benefit more from JPG or WebP compression than flat graphics. An already optimized image may not become smaller, and the displayed percentage is an encoder setting rather than a guaranteed reduction.
Frequently asked questions
Will compression always make my image smaller?
No. The result depends on the original file, output format and quality setting. If an export is larger, the tool tells you. Try reducing quality, choosing WebP, or resizing the image to fewer pixels.
Can I compress a PNG with transparency?
Yes. Choose WebP to retain transparency with adjustable quality. Choosing JPG fills transparent pixels with white. This compressor exports JPG or WebP; use the image converter if you need PNG output.
Does compression change the image dimensions?
This compressor keeps the original pixel width and height. Use the image resizer if you also want to reduce the dimensions. Exporting removes original metadata and does not retain animation.
Can I compress HEIC, AVIF or SVG files?
You can open them and export JPG or WebP. This changes the format; it does not create a smaller HEIC, AVIF or SVG file. AVIF decoding depends on browser support, and SVG must be static and self-contained.
